British Visitors![]() After over twenty years of skiing all over Europe, we visited Breckenridge for the first time in 2005 and we instantly fell in love with this quaint little town with it's clapboard houses and shops and such a warm and friendly welcome from the local town folk. For intermediate skiers like us, Breckenridge has the best skiing that we have found anywhere. This year, when we came back we found an apartment that we couldn't resist, so we bought it. An independent ski holiday in the United States is much easier to organize than you might think. BA. flies from London Heathrow direct to Denver which is an hour's drive away down Interstate 70. This road is a major route through the Rockies and is always kept open, even in winter, but a 4 wheel drive vehicle does give some peace of mind. Leaving the Interstate at the pretty lakeside town of Frisco, take Route 9 up the valley for 10 miles and you will arrive in Breckenridge in time for dinner. We usually book an Alamo Gold package though www.yescar.com, but all the major car hire companies are represented at Denver airport. Should you not wish to drive a minibus shuttle service from Denver to Breckenridge and return is offered by Colorado Mountain Express. Their phone number is 970-926-9800. If you are planning a ski trip to the USA, Breckenridge has so much to offer, from Winter to Summer, come and experience the welcome you will receive. WE DID. AND WE STAYED. |
